2 Tbsps olive oil
2 Tbsps Tomato paste
800 grams peeled Tomatoes (canned)
salt
freshly ground peppers
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried oregano
Red pepper flakes
500 grams Spaghetti
for garnish
freshly grated Parmesan

Preparation steps

Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Heat the olive oil in a pan, and sauté both. Add the tomato paste, sauté briefly, then add the tomato. Mix well and crush the tomatoes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Simmer gently for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the herbs and red pepper flakes, and simmer another 5-10 minutes until the desired consistency is reached.

Cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water until al dente.

Drain the pasta, and arrange on plates. Adjust the seasoning of the sauce, if necessary, and place over the top of the spaghetti.

Garnish the spaghetti with parmesan cheese and basil, and serve.
