1 kilogram waxy potatoes
300 milliliters Whipped cream
100 grams grated Cheese (such as Gruyère, Emmentaler)
2 Tbsps freshly chopped thyme
50 grams Crème fraiche
salt

Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Peel garlic and rub the baking dish with the cut surface. Scrub the potatoes, peel and cut into very thin slices. Uniformly layer in the baking dish. Mix cream with the cheese, thyme and creme fraiche. Season with salt, nutmeg and pepper and pour over the potatoes. The potatoes should not be completely covered. If necessary, use more or less cream.

Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes. If the gratin is getting too dark, cover with aluminum foil while baking.
