Red Wine Punch
Remove the zest from the orange in a thin spiral using a vegetable peeler. Remove the bitter white pith from the orange using a sharp knife, then thinly slice the pulp.
Add the orange slices, orange juice, sugar, spices, red wine, and rum to a pot. Heat the mixture slowly, but don't let come to a boil.
Pass the punch through a strainer, then pour into glasses. Garnish the glasses with a spiral of the orange zest and serve.
