Preparation steps

Bring 2.5 L (approximately 2.5 quarts) of water and the salt to a boil in a large saucepan.

Add the spaghetti, and cook a few minutes until al dente stirring occasionally. Check the spaghetti from time to time, to make sure it doesn't overcook. Drain in a colander, then use in a recipe of your choice.

The cooking time will vary depending on the type of pasta. Fresh pasta usually takes 1-2 minutes of cooking. Dried pasta usually takes up to 15 minutes of cooking.
