1 kilogram white Asparagus
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp butter
2 Tbsps lemon juice

Preparation steps

1.

Hold the asparagus flat in your hand, and peel the bottom end with a vegetable peeler. If the ends are too tough, trim those parts off.  Tie into bundles (4-5 stalks each) with kitchen twine. 

2.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the salt, sugar, butter, and lemon juice. Place the asparagus bundles into the water. Boil for 20 minutes, until al dente. If using the asparagus for something like a tart, remove from the water sooner. 

3.

Remove the asparagus from the cooking water and remove from the twine. Use as the recipes directs, or serve if they are meant to eaten on their own. 

4.

Drizzle the asparagus with melted butter, if you'd like.
