Stone Fruit with Sweet Wine Syrup
Place the wine, vanilla pod and spices in a pan, bring to a gentle simmer, then add the peaches.
Cook for about 15 minutes until tender. Remove the peaches and vanilla pod and set aside.
Increase the heat and cook until the syrup is reduced by half. Remove the spices.
Cut the peaches into thick slices and put into the syrup. Leave to cool completely.
Serve with star anise and pieces of vanilla pod. Spoon over a little of the syrup and decorate with lemon verbena.
