Preparation steps

1.

Pat the halibut steaks with a paper towel to dry, place on a plate and sprinkle each with 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Let stand for 5 minutes. Peel the garlic and cut lengthwise into thin slices.

2.

Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a pan and saute the garlic slices until golden yellow, then remove (when the garlic is too dark, it tastes bitter) and place on a plate aside. Drain the halibut steaks and reserve the juice.  Cook in hot oil for 2-3 minutes on both sides until golden brown. Remove and place on a warm plate. Stir the collected juice with the garlic in the pan briefly. Then spoon out the mixed liquid and pour over the halibut. Spread the garlic with the browned bits on top of the halibut. Sprinkle plenty of pepper on the halibut, possibly sprinkle a little salt and add a little lemon juice. Serve immediately. If desired, serve with lemon halves.
