Preparation steps

1.

Cover chickpeas in water and soak overnight. Drain chickpeas and rinse, then place in a pot and cover with fresh water. Season with a teaspoon of salt and cook for about 60 minutes until tender. Drain chickpeas. Remove 1/3 of chickpeas and set aside. Puree remaining chickpeas and stir in whole chickpeas. Season with salt, pepper and cumin seeds. Rinse marjoram, shake dry and chop finely. Mix marjoram, eggs, bread crumbs and cheese with chickpeas. Peel garlic and mash, then stir into chickpea mixture.

2.

Shape mixture into thick, oval patties. Heat oil in a pan and fry patties on both sides, about 5 minutes. Fry in batches and keep warm. Rinse peppers, dry and cut into quarters. Remove seeds and ribs and cut into strips. Peel onion, halve and cut into slices. Heat oil in a pan and sauté peppers and onions, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. To serve, arrange chickpea patties and onions and peppers on a plate.
