800 grams waxy potatoes (day-old)
1 onion
1 garlic clove
1 Tbsp olive oil (and for the baking dish)
8 eggs

Preparation steps

Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Peel, rinse and slice the potatoes. Peel onion and garlic and chop finely. Sauté garlic with onion in a pan with 1 tablespoon of hot oil. Parboil potatoes in a pot of boiling salted water over low heat for about 10 minutes. Then remove from heat. Layer potatoes with onions and garlic in a greased baking dish. Beat eggs with salt, pepper and nutmeg and pour over potato-onion mixture. Sprinkle with cheese and let thicken for about 20 minutes in the preheated oven. Then take out of the oven and serve while still warm or allow to cool.
