Preparation steps
1.
Heat the oven to 190°C (170°C in a fan oven), 375°F, gas 5 and grease a muffin tray.
2.
Mix together the flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. In another bowl mix together the egg, sugar, vanilla sugar, oil and yogurt. Then add to the flour mixture and stir well until the dry ingredients are moist.
3.
Spoon the mixture into the greased muffin tin and bake in the middle of the oven for about 15 – 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool in the tin for a few minutes, then take the muffins out of the tin and leave to cool completely.
4.
Reserve enough white chocolate to make the bobbles on the Father Christmas hats and then chop and melt the rest in a bain-marie.
5.
Brush half of the surface of the muffins with melted chocolate. Colour the rest of the chocolate red with the food colouring and brush the other half of the muffins with this (for the hat).
6.
Press desiccated coconut on to the white chocolate half to form a beard and make a face with the sugar balls.
7.
Cut the reserved chocolate into small pieces and put one on top of each Father Christmas hat for a bobble.
