500 grams potatoes (predominantly waxy)
60 grams butter

100 grams grated Cheese

Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350ºF) and grease an ovenproof casserole dish.

Melt the butter.

2.

Peel the potatoes and cut into uniform slices. Layer them into the baking dish, overlapping like scales. Season each layer with salt and pepper and shower with cheese and butter.

3.

Drizzle the top layer well with butter and cover the dish with a lid or foil.

Bake for 35-45 minutes, removing the lid for the last third of the cooking time to allow to the potatoes to become golden brown.

Serve hot.
