- 2 onions
- ½ tsp ground black peppercorns
- 2 filets mignon about 200 grams (approximately 7 ounces each)
- 2 Tbsps vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsps butter
- 100 milliliters Red wine
- salt
Preparation steps
1.
Preheat oven to 100°C (approximately 215°F).

Peel the onions, cut in half and slice thinly.
3.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan and sear the steaks for about 2 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan, season with salt and pepper and finish cooking in the oven, until desired level of doneness is reached.
4.
Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan used to sear the steaks and sauté the onions until softened. Deglaze with the red wine and let cook down slightly. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining butter. Season with salt and pepper and spoon over the steaks.
