Ingredients

- Ingredients
- 2 ⅔ cups fresh Mozzarella (chilled)
- 1 cup flour
- salt (to taste)
- freshly ground Black pepper (to taste)
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 2 cups white breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano (for sprinkling)
Preparation steps
1.
Slice mozzarella into finger length sticks, about 1/2-inch thick.
2.
Arrange 3 bowls on your work surface, one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with bread crumbs. Season the flour with salt and pepper. Add garlic powder to the bread crumbs and stir to blend.
3.
Heat oil in a large skillet. Coat each piece of cheese with flour, then dip the cheese into the beaten eggs, then coat with bread crumbs.
4.
Place breaded cheese sticks into the hot oil and fry for about 2 minutes on each side, or until coating is golden brown. Cook in batches if necessary. Skillet should not be overcrowded.
5.
Drain on paper towels.
6.
Sprinkle with dried oregano. Serve with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.
