1 tsp English mustard powder
1 tsp Onion salt
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp Coriander
½ tsp Cumin powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp freshly ground Black pepper
1 chicken (2-2.5kg approx.)
2 tsps vegetable oil
1 can beer

Preparation steps

1.
Heat the barbecue grill.
2.
Mix together the mustard powder, onion salt, spices, salt and pepper.
3.
Rub the chicken all over with the oil and then with the spice mixture.
4.
Pour off 1/2 the beer from the can.
5.
Put the chicken over the top of the half-full can, so that the can fits inside the cavity.
6.
Place on the grill keeping the can upright. Carefully balance the bird on its two legs and the can.
7.
Cook for 75-90 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and no pink juices remain when a skewer is inserted into the thickest part of the thigh.
8.
Carefully remove the chicken and the can from the grill and leave to rest for 15 minutes.
9.
Lift the chicken from the can and discard the beer. Serve warm.
