1 kilogram potatoes (floury)

100 grams grated Cheese (such as Emmentaler, Gouda or Gruyère)
2 eggs
375 grams Whipped cream
40 grams butter (in flakes)
marjoram (to sprinkle)

Preparation steps

1.

Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Halve the garlic and rub on the baking dish. Grease the dish with melted butter. Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Alternately layer the potatoes and 3/4 of the grated cheese.

Mix the remaining cheese, eggs and cream. Pour the sauce over the potatoes. Top with the flakes of butter and bake for about 1 hour, until golden. Serve sprinkled with fresh marjoram leaves and freshly ground pepper.
