Preparation steps

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain pasta well and return to pot.

Meanwhile, heat butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat. Add onion; cook, stirring frequently until soft and translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add peas and half-and-half; season with salt and pepper. Simmer until thickened, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Cut ham into bite-size strips. Add to sauce; cook until heated through, 1 to 2 minutes. Toss sauce with pasta. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve.
