Ingredients

6 Tomatoes
1 onion
1 garlic clove
1 chili pepper
2 Tbsps olive oil
1 tsp Tomato paste
1 splash Red wine
1 Tbsp crushed Basil
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
Sea salt
sugar
Basil (for garnish)
For the sandwiches
4 White rolls
4 Lettuce
8 slices ham
4 slices Emmentaler cheese

Preparation steps

For the relish, rinse and blanch the tomatoes. Peel, quarter, remove seeds and chop.

Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Rinse the chile pepper and also chop. Sauté together in some oil and stir in the tomato paste. Deglaze with the red wine. Add the Add tomatoes and simmer for about 10 minutes while stirring.

Finally, add the basil and balsamic vinegar. Season with sea salt and sugar and allow to cool down.

For the sandwiches, slice the rolls in half horizontally. Rinse and trim the lettuce leaves, shake dry and pluck into small pieces. Lay on the bottom halves of the buns. Place the ham and cheese slices on top of the lettuce and garnish with the relish.

Place the bun lid on top and serve.
