1 kilogram waxy potatoes
1 egg
1 Tbsp Potato starch (depending on potato variety)
salt
Nutmeg
neutral vegetable oil (for cooking)

Preparation steps

1.

Peel and grate the potatoes. Wrap them in a tea towel and allow the juices to drain. Mix the grated potatoes with the egg, potato starch, salt and nutmeg (for variation, omit nutmeg or add black pepper).

Heat a frying pan with oil. Put the potato mixture in the frying pan and press into an even layer so that it coats the entire surface. Cook on the first side until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Flip the potato cake and fry on the other side until golden, about another 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towel and serve.
