Preparation steps
1.
Dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in water. Add flour, remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, orange zest, aniseed powder and eggs. Knead well, cover and let rest in a warm place for about 1 hour.
2.
Knead dough on a floured surface, shape into a roll and divide into 8 equal sized pieces. Roll each piece into a 30 cm (approximately 12 inch) long strand. Shape each strand into a ribbon and place on greased baking sheets. Add an egg to each strand. Beat egg yolk with 1 tablespoon water and brush onto dough. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and let rise for about 15 minutes. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (approximately 350°F) for about 20 minutes. Remove, let cool slightly, and serve.
