Preparation steps

Whisk the egg whites, stir in the salt and, if necessary, add as much cold water (maximum 100 ml) (maximum approximately ½ cup) so that the mixture is malleable but not too moist.

Dip the red onions into the egg white mixture, coat well, and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (fan: 170°C, gas mark 3) (approximately 375°F) for about 1 hour.

Remove from the oven, crush the baked onion slightly and serve.
