2 ozs butter
5 ozs milk (warmed)

Preparation steps

1.

Scrub and quarter the potatoes. cook for about 30 minutes in boiling salted water. Mash the potatoes with potato masher. Rinse, shake dry and slice the cabbage into strips. Blanch for about 10 minutes in salted water. Remove with slotted spoon and drain.

Cut the bacon into strips. Melt half of the butter in a large saucepan and sauté the bacon. Add the cabbage into the mashed potatoes and stir in the rest of the butter. Add the warm milk until potato mixture is creamy. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Ladle into bowls and serve immediately.
