- 300 grams Puff pastry dough (frozen)
- 100 grams grated Mountain cheese (such as gruyere)
- freshly ground peppers
- 1 egg yolk

Preparation steps

Thaw puff pastry. Brush the dough sheets around the edges with water and roll out on a floured work surface, slightly overlapping sheets, to a 40 x 40 cm (approximately 16 x 16 inch) square. Sprinkle cheese and pepper on half of the dough, then fold the other half of the dough over.

Roll out the dough several times with a rolling pin. Cut the dough into 2 cm (approximately 3/4 inch) wide strips with a pastry cutter. Twist each dough strips into a spiral, then brush lightly with beaten egg. Set on a lined baking sheet and bake in preheated oven at 225°C (approximately 425°F) for about 15 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
