- 4 Steak fillet
- 2 tablespoons each Oil and butter
- 1 red chili pepper
- 3 yellow onion
- 4 garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsps vegetable oil
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 lemon
- 4 slices Emmentaler cheese
- Flatbread (for serving)
- salt

Preparation steps
1.
Peel and coarsely chop onions and garlic. Cook onions and garlic in hot oil until translucent. Rinse and halve chile lengthwise, remove seeds and ribs and cut into fine strips. Add to onions and cook for about 15 minutes.

Rinse and coarsely chop cilantro. Mix into onions. Puree mixture with an immersion blender. Season with lemon juice and salt. Rinse steaks, pat dry and season with pepper.

Heat butter and oil in a skillet. Cook steaks over high heat, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer steaks to an ovenproof dish. Pour meat juices into onions.
4.
Spread onion mixture over steaks. Lay a slice of cheese on each steak. Broil in the oven, watching carefully, until the cheese has melted. Serve with flatbread.
