Ingredients

For the tomato sauce:
1 small onion
1 tsp olive oil
250 grams peeled Tomatoes (canned)
salt
peppers
For the feta:
80 grams mixed Nut
80 grams breadcrumbs
salt
peppers
1 tsp Cumin
4 medium eggs
5 Tbsps Pastry flour
400 grams Feta
vegetable oil (for frying)

Preparation steps

1.

For the tomato sauce: Peel the onion and finely dice. Heat the olive oil and saute until translucent. Dice the tomatoes and add to the onions along with the liquid. Cook briefly. Season with salt and pepper and let cool.

Chop the nuts coarsely and combine with the breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and cumin seeds. Whisk the eggs. Place the flour on a plate. Cut the feta cheese in half.

Coat the feta cheese with the flour, then dip in the egg and finally coat with the nut mixture. Repeat the process with each piece of cheese two more times so that each piece is breaded three times. Using hands, lightly press the breading into the cheese.

4.

Heat the oil in a saucepan or deep fryer to 170°C (approximately 325°F). Fry each piece of cheese until golden brown. Using a skimmer, remove from the hot oil and drain on paper towels. 
Serve with the tomato sauce.
