Preparation steps

Peel the apple, core and coarsely chop. Peel the onions and garlic and coarsely chop. Transfer the apple, onions and garlic to a saucepan along with the vinegar, bay leaf, peppercorns and cloves and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Strain the pickling liquid into a clean saucepan, add the mustard and cook, stirring, until creamy. Season with salt and let cool.
