- 1 bunch scallions
- 1 Red chili pepper
- 500 grams Beef fillet
- 2 tsps Chinese 5 spice powder
- 6 Tbsps Fish sauce
- 4 Tbsps sweet Bean sauce
- freshly ground peppers
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 3 Tbsps vegetable oil
- 400 grams Baby corn cob
- 1 Tbsp finely chopped Basil

Preparation steps
Rinse scallions, drain and cut diagonally into thin rings. Rinse chile pepper, drain and remove seeds and cut into strips.
Cut beef into thin slices and cut into bite size pieces and dust with five-spice powder.
Mix fish sauce, bean sauce and pepper. Whisk together 100 ml (approximately 1/2 cup) water and cornstarch and stir into fish sauce mixture.
Heat oil in wok and sauté scallions and chile for about 2 minutes. Remove scallions and chile and set aside.
Sauté beef in portions in center of wok, while stirring, for about 1 minute. Remove beef pieces when done and set aside. When beef is cooked, mix with spring onions and chile and put back into wok.
Stir prepared sauce and add to wok. Add drained baby corn and stir for about 2-3 minutes and mix in finely chopped basil. Arrange on plates and garnish with basil leaves. Serve with rice.
