For the pork
1 kilogram Smoked ham (boneless)
600 grams Sauerkraut
½ l Broth
1 bay leaf
7 Juniper berries
salt
peppers
2 Tbsps butter
For the mashed potatoes
750 grams Sweet potato
250 milliliters milk (or cream)
20 grams butter
salt
freshly ground peppers
Nutmeg

Preparation steps

1.

For the pork: combine sauterkraut with broth, add smoked pork and spices. Simmer, covered, for about 45 minutes on low heat.

2.

For the mashed potatoes: peel and rinse potatoes, chop and cook in salted water for about 20 minutes. Drain and press, still hot, through the ricer.

3.

Heat milk (or cream) with butter and whisk with potatoes until fluffy, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

4.

Cut meat into slices and arrange with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes on plates. Serve.
