Preparation steps

1.

Rinse 750 grams (approximately 1.5 pounds) of potatoes and boil in salt water for about 30 minutes.

2.

Remove the crust from the bread and cut into small cubes. Fry the bread in hot butter, until golden. Remove and drain on paper towels.

3.

Peel the cooked potatoes and press through a ricer. Peel the remaining potatoes, grate finely and mash with force. Drain the resulting liquid. Heat the mashed potatoes and add to the grated potatoes. Season with salt and nutmeg and mix well. Form the dumplings, with the croutons in the center. Boil the dumplings in salt water. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 25 minutes. Serve hot.
