- 1 stale White roll
- 600 grams Ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 onion
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 Tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- 100 diced Hard cheese (such as Emmentaler)
- breadcrumbs (for coating)
- Fat (for frying)
- Lettuce (for serving)
Preparation steps

Soak roll in a little warm water then squeeze. In a mixing bowl, add roll to ground beef and egg and knead. Peel onion and finely chop. Add onion to pan and fry in hot oil. Add parsley and marjoram to meat mixture, season with salt and pepper and knead well. Roll small portions of meat mixture and flatten. Put diced cheese pieces in center of meat patties, form patties into balls and roll in breadcrumbs to coat.

Fry meatballs in hot fat (170°C) (approximately 350°F) until golden brown for 4-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve on a bed of lettuce.
