500 grams macaroni

200 grams cooked ham

150 grams Crème fraiche
4 eggs
50 grams freshly grated Parmesan
2 Tbsps freshly chopped parsley

Preparation steps

Preheat oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Generously grease an oven-proof dish (about 2 liters) (approximately 2-quart capacity) with butter.

Cook macaroni in salted water until al dente, then rinse and drain. Cube ham. Peel garlic and finely chop. Stir together garlic, cream, creme fraiche, eggs, Parmesan and parsley until smooth. Season generously with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Layer macaroni in baking dish, sprinkling diced ham between layers. Pour egg mixture over the top and dot with butter pieces. Bake in oven until golden brown, about 40 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil if the top appears to be overbrowning. Serve out of the baking dish.
