1 tsp Baking powder
1 pinch salt
50 grams Pastry flour
50 grams Rye flour
150 grams ground Walnut
200 grams Marzipan
2 Tbsps powdered sugar
Pastry flour (for dusting)
For the filling
250 grams chocolate hazelnut spread
For decoration
250 grams Dark couverture chocolate
ground Walnut (to sprinkle)

Preparation steps

Step 1

For the dough, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Stir in the egg. Mix in the molasses, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Gradually knead in the flours and nuts until a smooth dough is formed. If necessary, add flour or water. Wrap the dough in plastic and chill for about 3 hours.

Knead the marzipan and powdered sugar. Roll out between two layers of plastic wrap until about 2-3 mm (approximately 1/4 inch) thick.

Use cookie cutters to cut out marzipan stars.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Roll the dough out on a floured surface until 3-4 mm (approximately 1/4 inch) thick. Cut out circles (about 7 cm diameter). Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.

For the filling, melt the nougat and let cool. Spread on the bottom of half of the cookies.

Sandwich a second cookie on the nougat and press gently. Let cool.

For the decoration, chop, melt and cool the chocolate. Spread the chocolate on the top of the cookies. Cover with marzipan stars. Let dry. Serve sprinkled with walnuts.
