Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). For the pan, grease a 22 cm (approximately 9 inch) springform pan with butter and then dust with flour.

2.

For the cake, melt chocolate in a bowl over a hot, not boiling water bath, remove from heat and stir in cold butter in pieces until creamy.

3.

Gradually add eggs to the bowl while stirring constantly. Sift flour into the bowl and carefully fold into batter.

4.

Pour chocolate mixture into the springform pan and bake on the middle rack of the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool in the pan and then remove from the springform pan.

5.

For the sauce, melt chocolate in a bowl with butter over a hot, not boiling water bath. Add espresso and cognac and stir well.

6.

Cut chocolate cake into pieces, pour some sauce over it and serve.
