Preparation steps

In a bowl, stir the flour with eggs, 1 pinch of salt and enough water to make a smooth dough. Beat until frothy. Let the dough stand for a 1/2 hour. Peel the onions and cut into rings. Heat the butter in a skillet until browned. Grate the cheese. Rinse the marjoram, shake dry and pluck leaves. Bring a pot of boiling salted water to a boil.

Press the dough through a colander or spaetzle press into the water. Cook until the spaetzle rises and drain. In a bowl, stir the spaetzle with the onions, browned butter, cheese and marjoram. Divide the spaetzle between ramekins. Bake in a 200°C (approximately 390°F) oven for 7 minutes.
