4 cups lean Ground beef
¼ cup olive oil
1 large onion (finely chopped)
6 cups roasting potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
¼ cup butter
salt
peppers
cup Beef stock
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Preparation steps

1.
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan and sweat the onion for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft.

Increase the heat and brown the mince well all over; usually 5-7 minutes.

Add the stock, Worcestershire sauce (if using) and seasoning and simmer for 10 minutes, then set to one side.

Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in a large saucepan of boiling, salted water until tender; roughly 20 minutes.

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C | 400F | gas 6.

Drain and allow to cool before mashing with the butter and seasoning until smooth.
7.
Spoon the beef into a 15cm x 15cm glass baking dish. Top with the mashed potato; it doesn't have to be smooth.
8.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the top starts to turn golden brown. Remove and allow to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
