2 onions
2 garlic cloves
1 chili pepper
1 tsp ginger (freshly grated)
½ tsp Cumin
1 tsp Mustard seed
½ tsp Turmeric
1 pinch cinnamon
1 Tbsp Mustard oil
1 tsp Tamarind paste
1 tsp brown sugar
1 lemon (juice)
400 grams Basmati rice

Preparation steps

1.

Rinse meat, pat dry and chop.

2.

Peel and finely chop garlic and onions.

3.

Rinse chile and slice crosswise into rings.

4.

In a skillet, brown beef in hot oil. Add onions, garlic and chile. Mix in spices and cook briefly. Deglaze with lemon juice. Stir in tamarind jam, sugar and 150 ml (approximately 2/3 cup) water. Cover and simmer over low heat about 1 hour, adding additional water if necessary.

Cook rice according to package instructions. Serve rice with beef vindaloo.
