- For the dough
- 250 grams Pastry flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- vegetable oil (for coating the dough)
- Pastry flour (for rolling out)
For the dough: Combine the dough ingredients with about 125 ml (approximately 1/2 cup) of lukewarm water. Knead into a firm, smooth dough. Coat with a bit of vegetable oil, cover and allow to rest for about 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan.
For the filling: Peel the apples, cut into quarters, and remove the core. Cut the apple quarters into thin slices. Combine the apples with the lemon juice, rum, sugar, cinnamon, raisins and almonds.
Divide the dough in half. Roll each half out onto a floured work surface. Brush the dough with a bit of melted butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Divide the filling between the dough halves and carefully roll. Place the rolls, seam-side down, into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 50 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from oven, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream, if desired.
