- 2 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsps Shortening
- ½ cup water (warm)
- 2 eggs (slightly beaten)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup Nut (walnuts, almonds or pecans chopped)
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 5 cups Apple (sliced)
- ½ cup raisins
- 3 Tbsps butter (melted)
- 1 lemon (grated rind of)
- powdered sugar

Preparation steps
1.
Sift the flour and salt together. Cut in the 2 tablespoons shortening and add the eggs and water.
2.
Knead well, beat dough against until it blisters. Stand it in a warm place under a cloth for 20 minutes.
3.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Meanwhile, mix brown sugar, nuts, cinnamon, sliced apples, raisins, melted butter and lemon rind together in large bowl.
5.
When dough is ready, dust work surface with flour and put dough on it.
6.
Pull dough with hands very carefully to thickness of tissue paper. Spread with apple mixture. nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and grated lemon rind.
7.
Fold in outer edges and roll about 4 inches wide. Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 400 degrees F and continue to bake about 20 minutes.
8.
Let cool. Dust with powdered sugar. Cut in slices about 2 inches wide.
