3 egg whites
200 grams powdered sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
150 grams ground almonds
100 grams Dark chocolate (grated)
1 tsp grated Lemon peel
40 grams peeled almonds

Preparation steps

1.

1. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until stiff.

2. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar and lemon juice and beat until very stiff and shiny.

3. Mix the ground almonds with the chocolate.

4. Fold the ground almond mixture into the egg whites

5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

6. Using 2 teaspoons spoon mounds of the egg whites into the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.

7. Halve the almonds lengthwise and place one piece on each macaroon.

8.

8. Preheat the oven to 160°C (approximately 325°F). Bake macaroons until crisp on the outside but soft inside, about  20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
