Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Beat the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and the amaretto. Mix the flour with the almonds and baking powder. Stir into the eggs and butter. If necessary add extra ground almonds. With wet hands, form small balls and place on the baking tray. Press a peeled almond into the center of each cookie and bake in a preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
