Ingredients

For the dough
150 grams Pastry flour
1 pinch salt
1 tsp Dry yeast
2 Tbsps sugar
5 Tbsps milk
25 grams butter
1 small egg
30 grams ground almonds
1 Tbsp slivered almonds
To finish
powdered sugar (for dusting)
750 grams Strawberries
2 packets Vanilla sugar

Preparation steps

1.

For the dough, mix flour with salt, dry yeast and sugar.  Pour in warm milk and add butter and egg. Knead all with kneading hook of a hand mixer into a smooth, pliable dough. Let sit for approximately 15–20 minutes covered in a warm place.

Knead dough briefly and shape into walnut-sized balls. Roll balls in ground almonds and place in a shallow baking dish with space in between. Sprinkle balls with sliced almonds and let rise for 15 minutes. Bake in middle of preheated oven at 200°C (approximately 400°F) for about 20 minutes.

3.

Rinse and chop strawberries. Mix strawberries with vanilla sugar, place alongside almond balls and serve dusted with powdered sugar.
