For the batter
200 grams softened butter (or margarine)
100 grams brown sugar
3 medium eggs
150 grams Pastry flour (1050 type)
1 tsp Baking powder
2 Tbsps cocoa powder
1 pinch Iodized salt
ground Vanilla
For the topping

300 grams Double cream cheese (60-75% fat)
4 Tbsps powdered sugar
Smartie (for decoration)

Preparation steps

1.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Grease a baking dish (20 x 30 cm; approximately 8 x 10 inches) with softened butter or margarine.

For the batter, beat the butter with the brown sugar until creamy. Gradually stir in the eggs. Mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, salt and vanilla. Fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture. Coarsely chop the walnuts and fold into the batter.

Pour the batter into the baking dish and smooth. Bake for about 25 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let rest for about 20 minutes. Remove from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

Cut the brownies into 12 pieces. For the topping, stir the cream cheese with the powdered sugar until soft. Spread the frosting on the brownies. Serve decorated with smarties.
