- 300 grams Lentils
- 400 milliliters Vegetable broth
- apple cider vinegar
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- 4 fish fillets (each about 160 grams, mild)
- 6 Tbsps olive oil
- 2 Tbsps Turmeric
- 2 Tbsps Garam Masala
- scallions (to sprinkle)

Preparation steps

Soak the lentils overnight. Drain and pour into a pot with boiling broth. Cover and simmer on low, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Drain, reserving 3-4 tablespoons of the cooking liquid. Add the reserved liquid back to the pot along with vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Let cool to lukewarm.

Rinse the fish fillets, pat dry and cut in half lengthwise. Place fillets in a steamer basket and brush with 4 tablespoons of oil. Sprinkle the turmeric and garam masala over the fillets. Place the steamer basket over a pot of boiling water, cover and steam about 8 minutes. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil to the lentils and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve lentils with the fillets. Garnish with chives.
