The jury on the weight loss benefits of specific vitamins is still hung. Most healthcare practitioners agree that the best way to lose weight and keep your metabolism chugging along is to eat a diet full of nutrient-rich foods and to implement a regular exercise routine

However, it is important to recognize that dieting and illness can compromise the nutrient intake of your body. In such cases, you may need to supplement your diet with certain vitamins. It is important to talk to your doctor, though, before adding any new vitamins to your daily regimen.

When your body is deficient in essential vitamins, it becomes fatigued. Not only will you feel a lack of ambition to go out and seize the day, as well as stick with your weight loss plan, but your body will not be able to work as efficiently which can undermine your weight loss goals.

A few of the supplements consistently touted for their weight loss benefits are Vitamin D, B Vitamins, and omega-3 supplements. There is not enough substantial evidence to conclusively determine the validity of these claims. However, it is important to recognize what these vitamins can do for your body.

Vitamin D helps with your body’s absorption of calcium, which helps keep your bones sturdy and strong.

B Vitamins can help with nerve and blood cell function and are a part of the DNA production process.

Omega-3s can help protect your body against heart disease and stroke.

Unfortunately, there is no magic formula of vitamins that will guarantee weight loss, but talking to your doctor about potential vitamin deficiencies is an important step in making sure your body runs at full capacity. When everything in your body works smoothly and efficiently, you are more likely to feel better and see greater results from your weight loss program.
