1 slice Toast (day-old)
3 Tbsps milk
400 grams Ground meat (mixed)
1 egg
1 generous pinch lemon zest
salt
peppers
vegetable oil (for frying)
2 shallots
1 garlic clove
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp Tomato paste
400 grams Tomatoes (canned)
1 pinch sugar
400 grams Spaghetti

Preparation steps

1.

For the meatballs: Soak toast in milk briefly, then squeeze to remove liquid. In a bowl, combine toast, ground meat, egg and lemon zest. Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Form mixture into small meatballs.

For the tomato sauce: Peel and finely chop shallots and garlic. In a pan, sauté shallots and garlic in olive oil until translucent. Stir in tomato paste and tomatoes. Simmer over low heat, about 20 minutes. Season with salt, sugar and pepper.

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted boiling water until al dente.

Fry meatballs in hot oil until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from pan and drain on paper towels. Transfer meatballs to sauce and let simmer for 1-2 minutes.

To serve, drain spaghetti and serve topped with meatballs in tomato sauce.
