2 onions
2 garlic cloves
4 Tbsps olive oil
600 grams crushed Tomatoes (canned)
2 Tbsps Tomato paste

For the meatballs
400 grams Ground meat
4 Tbsps breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 Tbsps freshly grated Parmesan
2 Tbsps freshly chopped Fresh herbs (parsley, tarragon, thyme)
400 grams Spaghetti

Preparation steps

1.

Peel and dice onions and garlic cloves then sauté in 2 tablespoons hot oil. Put half of mixture aside. Add tomato paste to half of mixture and sauté briefly. Mix in crushed tomatoes and simmer, uncovered, for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally and add water if necessary.

Cook spaghetti in boiling salted water until al dente.

For the meatballs: Combine ground meat, remaining cooked onions and garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan and herbs. Knead mixture and season with salt and pepper. With moistened hands, form mixture into small balls. Add meatballs to remaining hot oil and cook for about 6 minutes. Add tomato sauce, cook for about 2 minutes and season with sugar, salt and pepper.

Serve drained spaghetti with meatballs and tomato sauce.
