- Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (plus 2 tablespoons)
- 3 cups fresh, chopped Watermelon
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
Preparation steps
1.
In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves. Remove pan from heat and chill syrup until completely cooled.
2.
Meanwhile, mash the watermelon in a medium bowl. Stir in the lemon juice. Mix in chilled sugar syrup. Pour mixture through mesh strainer, pressing on the watermelon to extract as much liquid as possible.
3.
Pour mixture into shallow baking dish. Freeze until almost firm, about 2 hours, stirring frequently.
4.
Continue freezing without stirring until firm once again, at least 3 hours or overnight.
5.
Using fork, scrape the surface of the granita to form crystals. Scoop granita into dessert glasses and serve.
