Ingredients

For the onion rings
2 large onions
250 grams Pastry flour
1 tsp Baking powder
¼ tsp sweet ground paprika
l milk
2 eggs
l beer
salt
freshly ground peppers
vegetable oil (for frying, such as sunflower oil)
For the sandwich
4 slices uncooked Roast beef each about 150 grams (approximately 5 ounces each)
1 Tbsp clarified butter
4 slices Iceberg lettuce
2 Tomatoes
4 Ciabatta
2 Tbsps Ketchup

Preparation steps

For the onion rings, peel the onions and cut into rings. Mix the flour with the baking powder and pepper. Whisk the milk, eggs and beer. Season with salt and pepper. Coat the onions in the flour then the batter. Fry in batches in a large pot of hot oil. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Rinse the meat and pat dry. Sear in a grill pan in hot butter about 1 minute on each side. Remove from the pan and cover with aluminum foil. Let stand for about 3 minutes. Rinse the lettuce and pat dry. Rinse the tomatoes and cut into slices. Split and toast the rolls. Spread 1 teaspoon ketchup on each roll. Top with lettuce, tomato, steak and some of the onion rings. Serve immediately with remaining onion rings.
