- For the potato gratin
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 ⅕ kilograms potatoes
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- Nutmeg
- 2 eggs
- 600 milliliters milk
- 50 grams Double cream
- 75 grams grated Gruyere
- butter (for the pan)

Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Peel the garlic and rub on the bottom of a casserole dish. Grease the dish with butter. Rinse the potatoes, peel and cut into thin slices. Spread the potatoes in the casserole dish. Whisk the eggs, milk and double cream. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour the cream over the potatoes so that they are barely covered. Sprinkle with the grated cheese and bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
