Preparation steps

Peel the garlic. Bring 1 liter (approximately 1 quart) of water and the salt to a boil. Add the garlic and cook for 5 minutes. Remove the garlic from the cooking liquid and drain thoroughly. Place the garlic, rinsed chiles, and the bay leaves in jars.

Bring the vinegar, 1/8 liter (approximately 4 ounces), and the sugar to a boil. Pour the hot liquid into the jars, ensuring that everything is well covered. Seal the jars tightly and cool completely.
