Preparation steps

1.

Carefully take dough sheets apart, trim and cover with a damp cloth. Combine ground walnuts and almonds. Coarsely chop pistachios.

2.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F).

3.

Beat egg white until stiff, fold in honey, nuts, cinnamon and rosewater. Brush a sheet of dough with margarine and top with a thin layer of the nut mixture. Add another sheet and repeat the process until there are 2-3 layers of dough.

4.

Bake for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, boil sugar with 125 ml (approximately 1/2 cup) of water and simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat, let cool slightly and stir in lemon juice.

5.

Remove baklava from oven, while still hot, cover with syrup. Allow to cool. Remove from pan and cut into pieces. Garnish with orange corners and cinnamon sticks, drizzle with honey and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.
